On one of the first trips, we had trouble finding the correct tire pressure for the actual axle loads. The need for a fixed tire inflation system seemed imperative as you rarely get more than 4 bar of air pressure at a gas station, and we need up to 7 bar. After researching the Internet, I was inspired by various sources (mainly from https://www.uwehasubek.de) and decided to build the system myself. I chose a design with Viair Twin Compressor 485c installed under the passenger seat. A 11.5 liter tank is mounted under the cab structure and connected to the compressors via a control unit. The unit is located above the step on the front passenger door. It provides information about the air pressure and allows the connection of 2 inflation hoses. Thus we can pump up four tires at the same time. The dual compressors deliver up to 10 bar (150 psi) of air pressure.
